Formed in July 2020 in response to the government’s oversight of NHS Workers when announcing public sector pay rises for efforts during the COVID-19 Pandemic, NHS Workers Say NO! is a grassroots self-organised group of NHS Workers and supporters, initially fighting against public sector pay inequality.
Over time however, in view of the worsening NHS staffing crisis, record breaking waiting lists and increasing privatisation, we have broadened the scope of our campaign to encompass the following goals:
Pay Justice: a proper pay rise for health workers. We are demanding a 15% pay increase, to help retain much-needed staff and to start healing the damage of a decade of wage cuts and stagnation.
Protecting Patient Safety: from overstretched staffing to postponed elective surgery, we need major reinvestment to end the short-sighted policies that endanger patients as well as hurting staff. Read More
Ending Privatisation: for years the government have used NHS contracts as a vehicle to divert billions into the coffers of private firms. This has to stop – public money should be spent on public services. We urge all supporters of our shared goals to mirror the values outlined below out of respect for the institution that unites us. There are no entry requirements, fees or barriers to full participation of this campaign. We do not receive funding or have paid staff.
